Breona Walker
Head of School
Breona Walker joined Southside Academy in May 2023, following Breona served as the Dean of Culture and a Triple P Coordinator which demonstrates her versatility as an advocate for all stakeholders. In her deanship role, she flourished and set a standard of care and excellence for her school community. Under her leadership, she taught and set the tone for scholars, families, and teachers to feel safe, included, and valued.
Her educational career began in Mecklenburg County in 2014 where she taught grades K-5 with over 7 years of teaching experience. She received her undergraduate degree from North Carolina Central University with a Bachelor of Science in Family Consumer Sciences and a Concentration in Child Development and Family Relations. Mrs. Walker is currently completing her Master's degree in Organizational Leadership at Chowan University.
Mrs. Walker views a collaborative school environment as the key to creating successful teachers and students. She believes partnerships with parents and community partners are essential to enriching the experience at Southside Academy. Breona Walker’s hallmarks of success transcend the contemporary setting and embrace the public sphere where she works responsibly to build rapport with faculty, families, and scholars.
During her free time, Mrs. Walker enjoys writing and spending time with her family. She continues to make memories with her family as she teaches them their values of God, love, fun, perseverance, and commitment. Breona is working hard to mold, grow and nurture her family as she finds balance in continuing her pursuit of serving and excelling in education.
